Bir gün Peygamber Efendimiz’in huzurunda kadınlar kalabalık olmuşlar, kavga ediyorlardı, Hazret-i Ömer oraya geldi. Kadınlar onu görünce kaçtılar. Hazret-i Ömer kadınlara şöyle dedi: “Ey kendi nefislerinin düşmanları! Benden utanırsınız da Allahu Teâlâ’nın Resûlünden utanmaz mısınız?” diye sordu. Kadınlar da: Sen O’ndan daha sert huylusun! dediler.

O zaman Muhammed (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) Efendimiz, Hazret-i Ömer’e şöyle buyurdu: “Ey Hattab’ın oğlu! Allah hakkı için -ki benim nefsim O’nun elindedir- sen şeytanla karşılaşmazsın. Çünkü o, senin heybetinden yolunu değiştirir. Senin geldiğin yoldan kaçar, başka yöne gider.”
